Digital literacy workshop

All social educators play a fundamental role in the digital and media literacy of citizens. In their various fields of work, they can plan and develop learning situations aimed at working with the media as an object of study, promoting processes that involve the critical analysis of media messages and the creation of media products. Taking into account the global citizenship approach, it is important to create media messages that give a voice to groups that are underrepresented in the mainstream media. These groups, as prosumers, can create their own messages in various formats to denounce situations of inequality, claim their rights, fight for different causes, etc., thus becoming digital activists.

This workshop aims to showcase the media education projects carried out by EpDLab (Education for Development Laboratory) in various educational centres. After learning about these projects, Social Education students will plan learning situations for a specific group, choosing a topic for global citizenship education. The planned learning situation will include critical analysis activities and the creation of media products.
