Ana Lampón Gude
I am a Social Educator and Projects Officer at the NGO Solidariedade Internacional de Galicia. I work in the organisation’s Education Department, where I am responsible for the research area.
My work focuses primarily on promoting Education for Global Citizenship, both in the formal sector (at all educational stages) and the non-formal sector, as well as on generating collaborations and synergies with various institutions and organisations whose aim is social and political transformation towards a critical, empowered and emancipated global citizenship.
From within NGOs, we are aware that it is fundamental to move towards inter-institutional working practices, in which each entity assumes a distinct role, in line with its potential, but which allows us to provide common responses to the complexities of today’s society in the most comprehensive way possible. That is why I believe that having profiles like mine, from outside academia and closer to action, also adds value to a research group such as ECIGAL.
About me
Graduate in Social Education (2014) from the University of A Coruña and Education Projects Officer at Solidariedade Internacional de Galicia (2013 – present).
Throughout these years of experience and professional stability, my work within the organisation has focused primarily on the management and coordination of all kinds of global citizenship education initiatives (design, formulation, implementation, evaluation and justification of activities and projects from various funders).
I have experience as a speaker, trainer and organiser of conferences and seminars on Global Citizenship Education. In addition to my professional practice in the field of Education, I also actively participate in other areas promoted by the organisation, such as Fair Trade, Social Participation and Development Cooperation. In this latter area, I have experience of international volunteering, having spent three months in the Acahualinca neighbourhood (Managua, Nicaragua) as part of a comprehensive development project to improve the environmental, social, economic and living conditions around the A Chureca landfill.
My research experience began in my final year of university, when I completed my Final Year Project, “A study of the training and awareness-raising projects in development education by the NGO Solidariedade Internacional de Galicia”, and since then my involvement in studies and research has expanded. in collaboration with the University of A Coruña and the University of Santiago de Compostela, always linked to Global Citizenship and transformative pedagogies. In addition to the educational field and social pedagogy, I am also interested in related topics such as Feminism and gender equality, environmental education and sustainability, or human rights.
As a social educator, I am oriented towards cooperating in the generation of social alternatives and projects that contribute to the development and implementation of strategies aimed at global justice. To this end, I like to work from two maxims that I try to apply at all times, both professionally and personally: “Co-responsibility, or in other words, to think globally and act locally” and “to maintain consistency between thinking, feeling and doing”. I believe both help me to stay focused on what is important.
