Projects that bring life to Monterroso Prison

Under this title, La Voz de Galicia published an article about the project developed by the association Aliad Ultreia, with the collaboration of the ECIGAL group from the University of A Coruña (UdC) and the SEPA-interea Group from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), and funded by La Caixa Social Work.

A Social and Cultural Enrichment Plan in the prison, which, as Paula Polo, the educator who coordinates it, indicates, aims to enhance the real participation of the individuals to improve the context in which they live, to generate bonds and create a sense of community.

Thus, the community radio station LibreMente, the Open Classes or the initiatives to open up to the community, contribute in this new phase of the Plan (started in 2011) to increasing the prison’s educational opportunities.
