We presented the MAPESS project at the Showcasing Global Educational Research conference

On 22 March 2022, the EERA (the European Educational Research Association) held a virtual event dedicated to the dissemination of results from research projects funded by the Global Education Awards, granted in collaboration with GENE (European Global Education Network). We present the results of the project Mapping Critical Global Citizenship Education in Spanish Schools (MAPESS). The research, which was carried out between March and December 2021, was based on virtual interviews with primary school teachers, NGO staff and specialists in language, mathematics, and natural sciences teaching methods in the 17 Autonomous Communities of Spain. We aimed to establish an extensive and in-depth overview of the Spanish state of the art, and to feed the Cénit Map with experiences at the national level.

First, we post a thread on the forum recorded video which presents (in English) the map. And then, in the virtual synchronous session, we presented the four lines of analysis emerging from the collected data: the ECG concepts being handled and their relationship with other paradigms; the possibilities for incorporating ECG into the curriculum areas of mathematics, language, and science; the training that teachers have and need to carry out this type of work; and the models of collaboration between schools and NGOs.

We are continuing to work to analyse and publish these results – we will post updates here on our progress!
