Decolonising to transform: rethinking university international cooperation programmes
On 5 and 6 November, the Faculty of Education Sciences at the University of A Coruña (UDC) hosts the conference Decolonizar para transformar: repensando os programas universitarios de cooperación internacional. It is organised by ECIGAL in collaboration with the UDC’s Office of Cooperation and Volunteering (OCV) and the NGO Solidaridad Internacional de Galicia.
Over two mornings and one afternoon, we will hold South-North dialogues and round-table discussions with organisations and social movements from Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras, Portugal and Galicia. We will also hear from students who have taken part in cooperation placements. In addition, we will present the findings of the Deco-Uni research project, which examines (de)colonial imaginaries, discourses and practices in university cooperation.
One question will guide these days: is decolonial international cooperation possible from within universities?
