The ECIGAL research group and International Solidarity of Galicia are organising the webinar on the upcoming 7th and 9th of June from 5 pm to 8 pm. “Dialogue on Education for Global Citizenship in Schools: Realities and Proposals”. The main objective of these workshops is to share and discuss the initial results of the research Mapping Critical Global Citizenship Education in Spanish Schools, carried out by the group, in which 20 primary school teachers, 20 university lecturers and 17 NGOs from the 17 autonomous communities participated. Likewise, we intend to promote the visibility and recognition of ECG experiences, through the Cénit map, to weave networks of collaboration.

Global and exercise-based citizenship approach in ECG experiences. Given the complexity of defining ECG and its practice, in this space we propose to discuss experiences and initiatives based on two core axes (exercise for citizenship and the global dimension) and their connection with various methodological strategies.
ECG in Primary Education: the case of mathematics, languages and sciences. The work of ECG in school is usually carried out cross-curricularly or through globalised projects. However, more connections are often made with social and natural sciences than with languages, and especially with mathematics. In this space we will reflect on the obstacles and opportunities for planning ways to relate and integrate ECG into the curricular content of these subjects.
Teacher training in ECG: who, when, how… Our interviews revealed that the teaching staff involved in ECG projects tend to be highly aware of the topic but call for specific prior training. In this session, we will analyse in more detail the experiences and recommendations of those interviewed, in order to reflect on possible proposals for teacher training.
Weaving ECG networks: schools, families, community, and NGOs. Working at ECG requires an open centre to the community. The results show different types of collaboration with various organisations and the challenge of involving families. In this space we will discuss the role of the different stakeholders and how to improve synergies among them to promote a greater educational and social impact.
19:30 Shared platform to continue moving forward
